Where acoustic wave therapy comes from

The concept of extracorporeal shockwave generation emerged in the late 1960s — originally for the non-contact fragmentation of kidney stones. What happens in the skin during AWT therapy

D-Actor handpiece

Radial therapy: high-energy acoustic waves penetrate the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue, loosening fibrous tissue.

V-Actor handpiece

Vibration therapy: stimulates metabolism, improves lymph flow and the removal of metabolic waste products, reinforcing the effect of the acoustic wave.

Breakdown and drainage

The wave increases the permeability of fat cell membranes — they break down into free fatty acids and glycerol, which are removed by the lymphatic and circulatory systems.

In cellulite, the acoustic wave loosens stiff connective tissue, improves circulation and reduces the size of fat cells, so the skin regains firmness and the "orange-peel" texture is smoothed out. How acoustic wave therapy works, step by step

Before the treatment, a detailed health questionnaire is carried out to rule out contraindications. The patient lies down, and a gel that conducts the wave energy deep into the skin is applied to the treatment area, giving a pleasant cooling sensation. In the first part, the D-Actor handpiece is moved over the skin according to the therapeutic programme; in the second, the V-Actor handpiece performs a vibration massage for lymphatic drainage. The treatment is painless and feels like an intense massage.
