Dermapen 4 — precise facial and body microneedling

Dermapen 4™ is a medical fractional skin microneedling device used to rejuvenate the skin, deliver intensive revitalisation and significantly improve its quality and density. The treatment involves precise, controlled skin puncturing with sterile, ultra-fine needles in a single-use cartridge — designed to stimulate fibroblasts to increase collagen fibre production as part of the skin's natural regeneration processes.

Thanks to its pulsating needle system, Dermapen 4 also makes it easier to deliver active substances deep into the epidermis and dermis, significantly increasing the treatment's effectiveness. It is dedicated to anti-ageing and revitalising treatments: it reduces enlarged pores, softens wrinkles, improves firmness and elasticity, and also helps to fade acne, surgical and post-traumatic scars and reduce stretch marks.

Dermapen 4 vs Vital Injector 2 mesotherapy — what's the difference

These are two different "needle" methods that are easy to confuse. Dermapen 4 is microneedling — the needles create hundreds of micro-channels in the skin, mechanically stimulating it to produce its own collagen; the meso-cocktail here is an extra ingredient absorbed through the channels created. Vital Injector 2 mesotherapy works the opposite way: it precisely injects a chosen preparation to a set depth. Advanced Oscillating Vertical Needling (AOVN) is based on a pulsating needle action — with no scratching or dragging of the skin.

A high-performance motor and 16 ultra-fine needles deliver up to 1920 punctures per second. The automatic puncturing function shortens both treatment and recovery time.

Puncture depth and speed are set digitally — from 0,2 mm to 3 mm — depending on the indication, body area and skin thickness.

The needles are made of molybdenum (free of chromium and nickel) — a material used in surgical instruments — which makes them very thin (33G), durable and free from the risk of metal allergy reactions. The cartridge tip is sterile and single-use, and a digital sensor blocks it from being reused.

What Dermapen 4 helps with

We use this treatment for 3 indications. It works a little differently for each one — below we explain exactly what it does in each case.

Active acne

With active inflammation, we use microneedling cautiously and mainly away from the affected areas. Dermapen really comes into its own once the inflammation has settled and what's left to address is the skin's structure.

Post-acne scars

Microneedling triggers natural skin remodelling without thermal energy, so it's safe for darker skin types too. It works well for shallow scars and general skin texture irregularities; deeper indentations will need laser treatment.

Stretch marks

Microneedling without thermal energy — the gentlest of the methods in this set and the safest for people prone to post-inflammatory discolouration. In return, it requires more sessions.

What the research says about microneedling

Microneedling, described in the literature as percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), is one of the most extensively studied collagen-induction methods. Below are three genuine scientific publications (PubMed) on the effectiveness and safety of this method.

The above studies relate to microneedling (percutaneous collagen induction) as a class of treatments, not to a specific device. The PubMed identifiers (PMID) have been verified. Results vary from person to person and depend on the indication, skin type and number of treatments in the course — the specialist determines the therapy plan during the consultation.

09 — Treatment procedure

What the Dermapen 4 treatment looks like, step by step

Before the treatment, a detailed medical interview is carried out to rule out contraindications. To minimise discomfort, the skin is numbed with a specialist cream. The treatment itself involves controlled microneedling of the skin with sterile microneedles at a chosen speed and depth (0,2–3 mm, depending on the indication). The procedure, including numbing, takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the area treated. Selected meso-cocktails, medical peels or platelet-rich plasma may optionally be used. Finally, a soothing medical sheet mask is applied to reduce redness and swelling.

10 — Aftercare

Aftercare recommendations — Dermapen 4

Microneedling leaves micro-injuries that heal over a few days — proper aftercare speeds up recovery and protects the results.

The first hours and days

The skin may be red and sensitive; slight swelling and a few tiny scabs may appear the following day. Symptoms subside within a few days.

Gentle skincare

For a few days, use gentle products — micellar water, products for sensitive skin and post-treatment cosmetics. Avoid peels and irritating substances.

Sun protection

Use high SPF 50 protection for at least a week. The treatment can be performed at any time of year, including on tanned skin.

Consistency of the course

The first result is visible straight away, but a course of 4–6 sessions every 4–6 weeks is recommended to consolidate the outcome — as per the plan set by your specialist.
