The full face is the option for anyone whose hair growth is not limited to one spot. Instead of counting the upper lip, chin and sideburns separately, we treat the whole surface in one session — usually about 20 minutes.
"Full face" on our price list means a specific set of areas. Each of them can also be booked separately, at a lower price:
The strip between the nose and the lip line.
The most common location of single coarse hairs in women over 40.
The side surfaces of the face, along the hairline.
The nape and neck, ears, nose and the area between the brows are separate items — we add them on request.
Figures cover the full family of laser hair removal treatments at both clinics, not a single area. Source: Versum and Booksy reports, as of 30 June 2026.
Facial skin is thinner, more richly vascularised and exposed to the sun every day. Those are three reasons we work more carefully and at shorter intervals on the face than on the body — and why sun protection during the series is a condition here, not a suggestion.
Facial hair follicles are shallower than on the legs or back, but they respond to androgens. That is why with facial hair we ask about your cycle, thyroid and medication — not out of curiosity, but because it changes the series plan.
The third reason is practical: on the face we much more often encounter pigmented moles, which have to be avoided and protected. Changes to moles under laser hair removal are described in a systematic review (Cices et al., 2023, PMID 37493510).
Position and protection. Reclining, with eye shields for the whole session.
Sensation. It varies by segment: above the lip and on the chin the sensation is more distinct than on the cheeks, where the hair is finer. The whole session is short, and cooling removes most of the sensation.
Come in without make-up. Foundation and powder reflect light.
Before the first session we mark the moles to be avoided. They are noted in your treatment record.
Work with a small handpiece, segment by segment: lip, chin, jawline, cheeks.
Redness for up to a few hours. SPF 50 daily for the whole series, including winter.
At Velvet Skin Clinic we plan a series of 6–10 sessions in this area, every 4 weeks.
On the face the intervals are shorter than on the body, and the series longer. The reason is hormonal, not technical. The range is our clinic's protocol, based on clinical practice.
There is one reason a single session is never enough: the laser only affects follicles in their growth phase (anagen). At any given moment only part of the follicles in an area are in that phase — the rest are in catagen or telogen and do not respond to light. That is why sessions are repeated at intervals, to catch successive groups of follicles as they enter anagen (Natarelli et al., 2023, PMID 36769541).
We do not use one laser for everything. The device for this area is chosen at your consultation, after assessing your skin phototype and the thickness and colour of the hair. For phototypes IV–VI, the choice of wavelength is a matter of safety, not convenience (Lee et al., 2026, PMID 41884758).
A small handpiece and contact cooling — first choice on the face, where precision and avoiding moles count.
For thick, dark hair on the chin and jawline, and for darker phototypes.
For skin prone to redness and broken capillaries.
Prices apply at both clinics. The longer the series, the lower the price per session. When treating several areas at once, package prices from the full price list apply.

Laser hair removal works over a series, not from one session to the next — below is what you can realistically see at each stage in this particular area. Results are individual and depend on hair colour and thickness, skin phototype, and hormonal factors.
Shedding after 7–21 days. On the cheeks and sideburns, where hair is finer, the change can be subtler than on the chin.
The biggest difference shows on the chin and jawline, where hairs are thickest. Single coarse hairs that used to need plucking stop growing back.
The face stays smooth apart from fine vellus hair, which the laser does not remove. With hormonal changes — menopause, stopping contraception, thyroid conditions — some follicles may reactivate.
Because in laser hair removal such a photo would prove nothing. You arrive at the session shaved — a condition without which the laser cannot work properly. A "before" photo would therefore show shaved skin, and an "after" photo hair-free skin. Both look the same; the difference only appears two to three weeks later, when one of them does not grow back.
It is more honest to describe what changes and when — and to show reviews from people who completed a full series. Before-and-after photos make sense for treatments with immediately visible results, and we publish them in those categories.

Below are situations specific to this area. Contraindications common to all laser treatments — photosensitising medication, photosensitive epilepsy, cancer under active treatment, recent procedures in the area — are discussed during your consultation. Complications after laser treatments and how to manage them are described in a 2026 review (Nguyen et al., PMID 41797616).
The upper lip, the chin with the jawline, and the cheeks with sideburns. The nape, neck, ears, nose and the area between the brows are separate price list items — we add them on request.
It depends on how many areas you want treated. If it is only the upper lip — the separate item is cheaper. If it is the lip plus chin plus cheeks — the "full face" option works out better than three separate ones. We will price it during your consultation.
The risk exists mainly with tanned skin and darker phototypes — which is why we require a break from the sun and SPF 50 for the whole series. With settings tailored to your skin type the risk is low, but never zero.
Yes, as long as they are dark — a typical situation in women over 40 and one of the more common reasons for visits. Blonde and grey hairs contain too little melanin and the laser does not act on them.
About 20 minutes. The upper lip alone is about 5 minutes, so adding further segments increases the time, but not linearly — the work flows across neighbouring areas.
Better not on the same day. The next day make-up is no problem, as long as the skin is not irritated. Apply SPF 50 daily for the whole series.
After the series, lasting reduction is maintained, but the face is a hormone-dependent area. With pregnancy, menopause or a change in medication, some follicles may activate — a maintenance session is then enough.
