Smooth skin for the long term. We work with three laser systems — LightSheer Duet™, Thunder MT™ and Soprano Ice Platinum — and choose the right one for your skin and hair at a consultation, at both our two Warsaw clinics in Warsaw — City Centre and Mokotów.
Laser hair removal (permanent hair reduction) removes unwanted hair with a focused laser beam. It is currently one of the most effective methods of long-term reduction of excess hair from practically any part of the face or body — bikini, face, legs, underarms and arms — freeing you from constant shaving, irritation, inflammation and ingrown hairs. We perform it at our clinics on Świętokrzyska (City Centre) and Niepodległości (Mokotów).
How it works: the laser destroys the stem cells of the hair follicle with heat delivered by the light beam. Thanks to selective photothermolysis, the energy accumulates only in the hair's pigment (melanin), not in the skin — minimising the risk of burns. Laser hair removal is also used for the effects of hormonal disorders (hirsutism) and for skin inflammation caused by abnormal follicular keratinisation.
We do not use one laser for everything. The device — the LightSheer Duet™ diode, the Thunder MT™ alexandrite + Nd:YAG, or the Soprano Ice Platinum — is chosen at your consultation, based on your skin phototype and the colour and thickness of your hair.

The gold standard: an FDA-cleared diode laser with vacuum-assisted HS and −5°C ChillTip handpieces. The best-documented device in our lineup — with published device-specific studies.
Alexandrite + Nd:YAGTwo wavelengths emitted together (Mixed Technology) — also effective on darker and tanned skin, and on finer hair. One of the fastest lasers on large areas.
The in-motion technique with continuous cooling — the comfort-focused option, chosen when sensitivity is the main concern.
With our lasers we treat practically every area — from small facial zones to large body surfaces. Each area has its own dedicated page with the number of sessions, what to expect and prices.
A five-minute session.
AreaChin, cheeks, sideburns.

Below we cite peer-reviewed studies for the LightSheer — the best-documented laser in our lineup (PubMed, device-specific). Evidence for the Thunder MT wavelengths is on its own page.
In a study of the LightSheer Duet HS handpiece, hair reduction reached 81–85% — with less discomfort than the older handpiece (Zhou ZC et al., J Cosmet Laser Ther 2011;13(6):283–290).
In women with facial hirsutism (PCOS), LightSheer achieved an 85% hair reduction over a series of 6 sessions (Pai GS et al., J Cosmet Laser Ther 2011;13(4):134–137).
The 800 nm LightSheer diode laser proved effective in patients with dark skin (phototypes V–VI), with a good safety profile (Adrian RM, Shay KP, J Cutan Laser Ther 2000;2(4):183–190).
For the full picture: reviews confirm the long-term effectiveness of hair removal with diode, alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers (Haedersdal M, Haak CS, Curr Probl Dermatol 2011). The number of sessions and the result depend on hair colour and thickness and on hormonal factors — a series of treatments gives the best results.
Photothermolysis only works on hairs in their growth phase (anagen) — it does not affect hairs in the regression or resting phase. To target hairs as they enter the active growth phase, a series of sessions is needed.
To reduce hair by around 95–99%, a minimum of 5 sessions is needed; for most people 5–8 sessions at intervals of 6–8 weeks are enough. The number is individual — hormones, among other factors, play a role.
Health assessment, hair and skin typing, parameter selection; ruling out contraindications.
Taking your skin phototype and hair type into account — for a safe choice of energy.
From a few minutes (upper lip) to 90 minutes (full body). Comfortable thanks to cooling.
Every 6–8 weeks, until lasting hair reduction is achieved.
1 month before: stop waxing, plucking and epilating; finish any antibiotic course; pause topical retinoids and AHA/BHA acids; avoid tanning (sun and sunbeds); stop photosensitising medication and herbs (St John's wort, marigold, sage, pansy, cornflower).
1 week before: no mechanical or enzymatic peels; no self-tanner or depilatory creams; for underarms — no strong "blocker" antiperspirants.
1 day before: avoid alcohol. On the day: shave the treated area; do not apply lotions; for underarms — no deodorant or antiperspirant.
Afterwards: temporary perifollicular swelling and redness are natural (they usually settle within hours, occasionally up to 4 days). Use gentle, alcohol-free skincare and a soothing cream with allantoin or panthenol. For 3–4 days avoid the pool, sauna, heat and humidity; for 1–2 weeks avoid peels; for at least 2 weeks avoid tanning and use SPF 50+. Until the end of the series do not wax, pluck or use depilatory cream — shaving only. Sessions every 6–8 weeks.
The price depends on the area and the number of sessions; series packages are better value than single visits. Below are the most popular areas — the full price list of all areas is on a separate page.
Prices per single LightSheer Duet session. In series and combined packages the price per area is lower.
The FDA-cleared 805 nm diode laser — with device-specific published studies and comfort-focused cooling.
New755 nm alexandrite + 1064 nm Nd:YAG (Mixed Technology). Effective also on darker and tanned skin, and on thicker or lighter hair.
ProgrammeA complete package — several areas at once, with all three laser technologies at the same price.
"Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful… and who?! Ms Małgosia! I wholeheartedly recommend Ms Małgosia, a Professional with a capital P!"
Katarzyna · 2022Booksy review, translated from Polish"Fantastic location, a beautiful and comfortable place :) I had the pleasure of doing a series of hair removal treatments. The results are stunning — they changed my life."
Kamila Domańska · 2022Google review, translated from Polish"Lovely service. Wiktoria performed the laser hair removal treatment very gently and kept asking how I was feeling and whether everything was fine. Highly recommended! :)"
Małgorzata · 2024Booksy review, translated from PolishEvery case is assessed individually during the consultation. The main contraindications:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding · hair too light in colour (blonde, grey, red) — the treatment will not be effective · cancer · photosensitising hormone therapy · dermatological and immunological conditions: photodermatoses, psoriasis, active skin infections, a tendency to scarring.
Skin straight after tanning or with self-tanner · oral retinoid therapy — wait 6 months after finishing · photosensitising herbs · topical vitamin A and C, exfoliating and acid products · hair plucking within the last month before the session.
The treatment is comfortable for most people. Every laser we use has its own skin cooling — the LightSheer's −5°C ChillTip and vacuum-assisted HS handpiece, Thunder's contact cooling, Soprano's in-motion technique — plus cold packs, keeping the sensation to warmth and light pinpricks.
For a 95–99% reduction, a minimum of 5 sessions; most people need 5–8, performed every 6–8 weeks on average, because the laser only acts on hairs in their growth phase.
The laser destroys the follicle's stem cells, so after a full series the hair stops growing back. Hormonal factors affect how long the result lasts; occasional single maintenance sessions are sometimes advisable.
No. The laser works through the hair's melanin, so it is ineffective on very light, grey and red hair — this is a contraindication. Dark, thick hair on lighter skin gives the best results. For darker or tanned skin, consider Thunder MT.
No. For a minimum of 2 weeks before and after each session avoid tanning (sun, sunbeds), and protect exposed areas with SPF 50+. Tanned skin increases the risk of hyperpigmentation and burns.
Yes — on the day of the session (or the day before) shave the skin smooth. The laser works on the root beneath the skin; hair above the surface would burn and could irritate the epidermis. Shaving yes, wax and tweezers no.
IPL is broad-spectrum pulsed light, less concentrated than a laser. The LightSheer diode laser emits one precise wavelength (805 nm) — hence higher effectiveness, repeatability and better control. It is a medical treatment, not a home gadget.
Yes — one of its main advantages. By removing the hair at the follicle, the laser eliminates the cause of ingrowing and the related inflammation and discolouration.
Yes, the laser effectively reduces hair in hormonally driven hirsutism (e.g. PCOS). Hormonal disorders can stimulate new hair growth, so maintenance sessions may be needed. LightSheer was designed, among other things, for treating the effects of hormonal disorders.
Yes — increasingly often. Popular areas for men are the back, nape, chest, stomach and beard-line shaping. Preparation and the course of treatment are the same.
LightSheer Duet is a proven 805 nm diode laser — very effective and comfortable for most people. Thunder MT combines a 755 nm alexandrite with a 1064 nm Nd:YAG, making it also effective on darker and tanned skin. We choose the best laser for your skin and hair at the consultation.
We treat adults; younger clients only with a guardian's consent and presence, after qualification — ideally once hormones have stabilised, as earlier results tend to be less lasting.
Treatments at Velvet Skin Clinic are performed by certified cosmetologists with many years of experience in laser therapy, hi-tech devices and skincare treatments — including Małgorzata Wołyńska, Wiktoria Gregorczyk, Joanna Kondratczyk and Olga Kucińska, who has been with the clinic since 2011. After the consultation we match the method and the specialist to your skin and goal.
