02 — About the platform

Why the Fotona laser

Laser therapy treatments at Velvet Skin Clinic are performed with the advanced Fotona™ laser platforms, which support a broad range of procedures across surgery, dermatology, aesthetic medicine and cosmetology. These lasers are regarded as some of the most advanced platforms in the world thanks to their innovative technology, high power and extensive safety systems. A single device allows the wavelength (Er:YAG 2940 nm or Nd:YAG 1064 nm) and the operating mode to be matched to the specific skin concern.

Er:YAG vs Nd:YAG — a combination of effects

A laser works through a combination of several effects: ablative (vaporising the epidermis) or non-ablative (leaving the epidermis intact); thermal (heating the deeper layers) or cold (working at the surface); full treatment spot or fractional (fractionating the skin). The additional SMOOTH mode, available only in Fotona lasers, delivers a thermal effect on mucous membranes — enabling treatments such as endolifting (inside the oral cavity) or NightLase snoring treatment.

04 — Technology · Fotona safety systems

What sets Fotona laser platforms apart

01

VSP — Variable Square Pulse

Patented square pulses of variable width — instant, precise power without excess energy or overheating of the tissue.

02

EFC — Energy Feedback Control

Energy feedback control matches the level of every pulse to the operator's settings, keeping the energy output consistent.

03

Er:YAG + Nd:YAG

Two wavelengths and multiple modes (including SMOOTH, PIANO and FRAC3) — one system for many indications.

VSP and EFC technologies allow treatments to be performed easily, precisely and efficiently, without unnecessary heating of the surrounding tissue — which shortens skin recovery time.

What research says about Fotona lasers (Er:YAG and Nd:YAG)

Er:YAG (2940 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) lasers — the two wavelengths of the Fotona platform — are among the most thoroughly researched laser technologies in aesthetic dermatology. Source: PubMed.

Collagen remodelling

Repeated Er:YAG irradiation effectively denatures and remodels skin collagen in vivo, with less damage to the epidermis than classic resurfacing.

Wrinkles and elasticity

After a series of long-pulsed Nd:YAG treatments, the mean wrinkle score fell by 45.1%, elasticity increased, and histology confirmed a rise in collagen and elastin.

13 — Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions — Fotona laser treatments

What are Fotona laser treatments?

Laser therapy performed on the Fotona platforms — some of the most advanced laser systems in the world. A single device offers two wavelengths (Er:YAG 2940 nm and Nd:YAG 1064 nm) and multiple modes, so the treatment can be tailored to lifting, resurfacing, broken capillaries, pigmentation, scars or snoring.

Which treatments can be performed with the Fotona laser?

Among others: lifting (Fotona 4D, SMOOTH, PIANO, endolifting, SmoothEye), resurfacing and laser peels, FRAC3, treatment of broken capillaries and redness, pigmentation removal, acne treatment, scar and stretch mark removal, LipLase and NightLase. You will find the details of each treatment on its dedicated page.

How often can Fotona treatments be performed?

Fotona laser therapy sessions can be performed every 4–6 weeks. The number of treatments depends on the expected results and is usually 1 to 5 per series. A specialist tailors the treatment plan during a consultation.

Which time of year is best for laser therapy?

Autumn and spring are best — thanks to lower sun exposure and a lower risk of pigmentation. In summer SPF 50+ protection is essential, while in winter healing skin calls for particularly careful moisturising and lipid care.

Do Fotona laser treatments require downtime?

It depends on the type of treatment. SMOOTH-mode procedures leave the skin surface intact — you can return to your activities straight away. Ablative treatments may involve redness and peeling for up to around 10 days. Your specialist will match the option to your schedule.

How much do Fotona laser treatments cost?

Prices range from 100 zł to 3000 zł, depending on the type of treatment and the area. We agree an exact quote during a consultation. You will find the full price list on our pricing page, and you can book a consultation online or by phone.
