Cellulite

Cellulite is not a question of weight and it does not disappear with a cream — we work on it from several angles: microwave technology, acoustic wave, drainage and tissue remodelling. At your consultation we will assess whether it is “fluid” cellulite or advanced, fibrous cellulite — and set the intensity and the length of the course.

02 — What it is

Cellulite — what it really is

Cellulite, commonly known as “orange-peel skin”, is a disturbance in the structure of the subcutaneous tissue that affects most women — regardless of weight. Vertical connective-tissue septa pull the skin down while enlarged fat lobules bulge upwards, creating an uneven, “quilted” surface on the thighs, buttocks and hips. Lymphatic stasis and weakened microcirculation add to this.

That is why a cream or a diet alone is usually not enough — you need to work on the structure of the tissue and the circulation. At Velvet Skin Clinic we combine technologies with different mechanisms: breaking up dense septa, stimulating microcirculation and drainage, and remodelling the tissue. We match the method to whether we are dealing with early, “fluid” cellulite or with advanced, fibrous cellulite.

Why a multi-pronged approach is needed

Different technologies act on different links in the problem: microwaves Onda and acoustic wave work with deeper tissue and fibrosis, Endermologia and Icoone stimulate microcirculation and drainage, while carboxytherapy improves oxygenation and circulation. That is why the best results come from a programme combining several methods, matched to your type of cellulite — rather than single, random treatments.

04 — Causes

Where cellulite comes from

Anatomy and hormones

In women the connective-tissue septa run vertically and let fat push upwards more easily; oestrogens further favour the development of cellulite.

Microcirculation and stasis

Poor circulation and lymphatic stasis increase swelling and the “spongy” feel of the tissue — the beginning of fluid cellulite.

Fibrosis and lifestyle

Over time the septa become fibrous, and a sedentary lifestyle, diet and genetics fix the changes in place — producing hard, fibrous cellulite.

05 — Recognition

Identify your type of cellulite

Fluid (oedematous) cellulite

Early, linked to stasis and microcirculation. The skin feels “spongy” and the legs feel heavy. It responds to drainage and mechanical stimulation.

Fibrous (hard) cellulite

Advanced, with dense septa and marked dimples that are painful under pressure. Here microwaves and acoustic wave work well.

Mixed cellulite

The most common — it combines features of both types. It calls for a programme combining several technologies matched to the area.

We assess the type and grade of cellulite (on a clinical scale) at your consultation — that determines the choice of technology, the intensity and the length of the course.

07 — How we help

Recommended solutions for cellulite

We have six technologies with different mechanisms and our own combined programme. We match them to the type of cellulite and the area. Each method has its own dedicated page.

Microwaves

Onda Coolwaves

Microwaves reach deeper tissue — they act on fibrosis and fat while tightening the skin at the same time. A strong option for advanced cellulite.

Acoustic wave

Storz acoustic wave

The radial acoustic wave loosens dense septa and stimulates microcirculation — particularly in fibrous cellulite.

LPG mechanical stimulation

Endermologia Alliance

Mechanical vacuum massage stimulates drainage and microcirculation — it works well for fluid cellulite and for firming.

Microstimulation

Icoone Med

Micro-stimuli and vacuum work on the tissue point by point — drainage, microcirculation and a smoother skin surface.

Radiofrequency

Maximus Trilipo

RF with muscle activation remodels the tissue and firms the skin — it supports the smoothing of cellulite.

CO₂ injections

Carboxytherapy

Carbon dioxide improves microcirculation and tissue oxygenation — support for anti-cellulite therapy and firming.

10 — How it works in practice

Cellulite therapy step by step

Once we have assessed the type and grade of cellulite, we plan a course — often combining several technologies. The treatments are comfortable and usually involve no downtime; after some of them the skin may be pink for a while. The result builds up over the course and needs maintaining.

The course plan

Choosing the technologies, the number of treatments and their order.

The treatments

Working with the tissue — waves, microcirculation, drainage, remodelling.

Results and maintenance

Smoothing and firming; top-up sessions keep the result going.

11 — Support and prevention

How to support the result and limit recurrence

Treatments work best when you support them with your lifestyle. It genuinely extends the result and slows the return of cellulite.

Movement and activity

Regular exercise improves circulation and muscle tone — key in dealing with cellulite.

Hydration and diet

Drinking water and a low-salt diet reduce stasis and swelling.

Everyday drainage

Dry brushing, massage and avoiding long periods of sitting support microcirculation.

Body care

Firming cosmetics are an addition to treatments, not a replacement for them.

Maintenance treatments

Periodic sessions help to keep the skin smooth, because the tendency towards cellulite remains.

14 — Safety

When to take extra care

Body treatments are always preceded by a medical history. The main contraindications and situations calling for caution:

pregnancy and breastfeeding
varicose veins, thrombosis, clotting disorders
cancer
a pacemaker / metal implants in the RF field
active skin inflammation
uncontrolled chronic conditions

The result depends on the type of cellulite, the course and your lifestyle — we work honestly, without promising a “miracle” removal of cellulite once and for all.

15 — Questions and answers

Frequently asked questions about cellulite

How can I get rid of cellulite permanently?

Cellulite is a chronic condition linked to the structure of the subcutaneous tissue, so honestly: it does not “disappear once and for all”. It can, however, be clearly reduced and the skin smoothed with a course of treatments, and the result kept up with maintenance treatments and lifestyle. A cream alone is not enough.

Which treatment is best for cellulite?

It depends on the type. Fluid/oedematous cellulite responds well to drainage and mechanical stimulation (Endermologia, Icoone, Indiba), while advanced, fibrous cellulite responds to waves (Onda microwaves, acoustic wave) and remodelling (Maximus, carboxytherapy). Most often we combine methods within a programme.

How many treatments are needed?

We usually plan a course of several to a dozen or so treatments (depending on the technology and the severity), followed by maintenance sessions. We agree the exact plan at your consultation.

Is cellulite a question of weight?

No. Cellulite also occurs in slim women — it results from the structure of the connective-tissue septa, from hormones and from microcirculation, and not simply from the amount of fat. That is why diet alone often does not remove it.

Will cellulite come back after treatment?

The tendency towards cellulite remains, so without maintenance and a healthy lifestyle the changes may return. Regular top-up treatments and activity help to keep the result.

How much do cellulite treatments cost?

The price depends on the technology, the number of areas and the length of the course. We provide a quote at your consultation, and full rates are available in the price list.
