About the Treatment

One of the most advanced hair removal methods

Thunder MT™ laser hair removal by Quanta System is one of the most modern methods of lasting hair reduction. Its advanced technology and precision make the treatment highly effective and suitable for a wide range of skin and hair types.

How laser hair removal works: a concentrated beam of laser light is directed at melanin — the pigment in the hair follicle. The laser's energy is absorbed by the melanin and converted into heat, damaging the hair structure and the cells responsible for its growth. The treatment is precise: it acts only on the follicles, leaving surrounding tissue untouched.

The Thunder MT principle: selective photothermolysis. The emitted light is absorbed by melanin in the follicle; the energy becomes heat, which destroys the bulb and its stem cells — the ones responsible for regrowth. Thunder is ideal for removing hair from the face, underarms, legs, bikini, back and arms, among other areas.

What Sets Thunder MT Apart

Two wavelengths, one technology

755 nm

Alexandrite

The alexandrite wavelength, dedicated to lighter and finer hair, with high effectiveness on lighter skin.

1064 nm

Nd:YAG

The Nd:YAG wavelength, ideal for darker skin types — deeper penetration, also effective on thicker hair.

MT

Both wavelengths at once

Mixed Technology emits both wavelengths simultaneously, matching parameters to your needs — maximum effectiveness with a strong safety profile.

Lasting results

A clear reduction is visible after the first series; typically 5–8 sessions remove 90–95% of the hair.

Versatility

Effective across skin and hair types thanks to the two wavelengths and their combination.

Short session times

The large handpiece covers even big areas quickly — legs or the back.

Who It Is For

Effective where other lasers have limits

By combining two wavelengths, Thunder MT works for a wide range of clients — including cases where a classic diode laser can be limited.

Light and darker skin (a range of phototypes)
Skin with a tendency to tan
Thick, dark hair
Lighter and finer hair
Face, underarms, bikini
Legs, arms, back
Excess hair growth (hirsutism)
Large areas — a fast session
Scientific Evidence

The effectiveness of the Thunder MT technologies

Thunder MT combines a 755 nm alexandrite and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG. Below are peer-reviewed studies on these wavelengths (PubMed). They concern the technologies the device combines — not the Quanta model itself.

Alexandrite 755 nm

65.6% — the highest reduction

In a comparison of three lasers, the alexandrite averaged 65.6% hair reduction — the most of the three (diode 46.9%, Nd:YAG 42.4%) (Bouzari N et al., Dermatol Surg 2004;30:498–502).

Nd:YAG 1064 nm

Documented for phototypes IV–VI

The Nd:YAG proved effective in people with dark skin, with a mean reduction of 54.3% and no complications in 86% of participants (Rao K, Sankar TK, Lasers Med Sci 2011;26:623–626).

Review

Long-term effectiveness

A review confirms the long-term effectiveness of alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers; longer wavelengths and cooling improve the safety margin for darker skin (Haedersdal M, Haak CS, Curr Probl Dermatol 2011;42:111–121).

To be fair: the studies above concern the wavelengths (alexandrite, Nd:YAG) that Thunder MT combines — not the Quanta System device itself (no dedicated PubMed studies). Effectiveness and the number of sessions depend on hair colour and thickness, skin phototype and hormonal factors.

Effectiveness and Course

How many sessions and what the treatment looks like

For optimal results a series is recommended — the laser only acts on hairs in their growth phase (anagen). Typically 6 to 10 sessions at 6–10 week intervals reduce hair by 80–90%. The number depends on individual factors (hair colour and thickness, hormones, co-existing conditions, medication).

Consultation

Health assessment, skin phototype and hair analysis, laser parameter selection.

Laser patch test

For darker phototypes — assessing the skin's reaction (not required for light phototypes).

Session

The handpiece delivers light pulses to the follicles; discomfort is minimal thanks to cooling. From a few minutes to 90.

A course of 6-10 sessions

Every 6–10 weeks, down to an 80–90% hair reduction.

Preparation. A month before: stop waxing, plucking and epilating; finish antibiotic courses; pause topical retinoids and AHA/BHA acids; avoid tanning; stop photosensitising medication and herbs. A week before: no peels, self-tanner or depilatory creams; for underarms — no "blocker" antiperspirants. The day before: avoid alcohol. On the day: shave thoroughly, no lotions, no deodorant for underarms.

Afterwards. Redness and perifollicular swelling can occur (usually settling within hours, occasionally up to 4 days). Gentle, alcohol-free care with a soothing allantoin or panthenol cream; no rubbing; for 3–4 days no pool, sauna or intense exercise; for 1–2 weeks no peels; for at least 2 weeks no tanning and SPF 50+; until the end of the series no hair-pulling methods.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions — Thunder MT

How is Thunder MT different from a regular hair removal laser?

Thunder MT combines two wavelengths — a 755 nm alexandrite (for lighter hair and skin) and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG (for darker skin and thicker hair) — and can emit them simultaneously (Mixed Technology). That makes it effective for a wider range of clients than a single-wavelength laser.

Does Thunder MT work on dark and tanned skin?

Yes — that is its main advantage. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG penetrates deeper and has the best safety margin for darker phototypes. For dark phototypes we perform a laser patch test to assess the skin's reaction. With a fresh tan, the decision rests with the cosmetologist at the consultation.

Does the treatment hurt?

Discomfort is minimal thanks to the advanced skin-cooling system. Most people feel only warmth and short pinpricks. Thunder is also one of the fastest lasers, so the session is short.

How many sessions and how often?

Typically 6–10 sessions every 6–10 weeks reduce hair by 80–90%. The laser only acts on hairs in their growth phase, hence the series. The number depends on hair colour and thickness and hormonal factors.

How much does Thunder MT hair removal cost?

A single area is 299 zł, a series of 4 sessions 1 100 zł (275 zł/session), a series of 6 sessions 1 500 zł (250 zł/session). Packages combining 2, 3 or more areas lower the price per area (from 130 zł/area).

Thunder MT or LightSheer Duet — which one?

LightSheer Duet (an FDA-cleared 800 nm diode) is very effective and comfortable, particularly with dark hair on lighter skin. Thunder MT, with its two wavelengths, additionally handles darker and tanned skin and more varied hair. We choose the best laser at the consultation.

Is the result permanent?

The laser's energy destroys the follicle's stem cells, so after a series the hair stops growing back. Hormonal factors affect how long it lasts; occasional maintenance sessions are sometimes advisable.

What is the Nd:YAG laser and when is it used?

Nd:YAG (1064 nm) is the wavelength with the deepest penetration and the weakest affinity to epidermal melanin — the best safety margin for dark and tanned skin (even phototype VI). In Thunder MT we use it alone or with the alexandrite.

Can Thunder be used in summer and all year round?

Yes — one of Thunder MT's main advantages. Thanks to the Nd:YAG wavelength, treatment is possible also on darker, tan-prone skin, all year round. With a fresh, intense tan the cosmetologist decides; we always protect the skin with SPF 50+.

Will Thunder remove lighter and finer hair?

The 755 nm alexandrite is dedicated precisely to lighter and finer hair, so Thunder MT handles it better than lasers working only on a longer wavelength. Completely grey and red hair (no melanin) cannot be removed effectively by any laser.

How long does a Thunder MT session take?

Thunder is one of the fastest lasers — the large handpiece covers big areas quickly. Small areas take a few minutes, larger ones (legs, back) up to about 30 minutes, the full body up to 90.

Laser hair removal for men with Thunder — is it possible?

Yes. Thunder MT excels with coarse, dense hair (back, chest, nape, beard), and the combination of wavelengths allows safe work also on darker or tanned male skin.
