Does Cooltech cryolipolysis hurt?
No, Cooltech cryolipolysis is painless. At first you feel the tissue being drawn in and intense cold, which fades after a few minutes as the area becomes numb with cold. You can relax through the 70 minutes of the treatment. After the applicator is removed, we perform a massage to restore circulation.
How many cryolipolysis sessions are needed, and how often?
A full course is usually 1–3 sessions on the same area, performed at intervals of at least 6 weeks. A loss of several centimetres in circumference is visible after just one session. The therapy can be continued until you reach a satisfying result — you can stop or extend it at any stage.
Are the effects of cryolipolysis permanent?
Yes. The frozen fat cells are irreversibly destroyed and removed from the body, so they do not regenerate in that area. The durability of the result is supported by maintaining a balanced diet and staying active — the remaining fat cells can still enlarge if you gain weight.
When do the effects of Cooltech cryolipolysis become visible?
The effect is not immediate — the frozen fat cells are gradually removed by the lymphatic system and liver over the following 6–8 weeks after treatment. The full reduction in circumference is usually assessed after around 8–12 weeks; we take measurements and photos before and after.
Can cryolipolysis be done in summer and all year round?
Yes, Cooltech cryolipolysis can be performed all year round, including summer — it works with cold, not light. However, tanning within 5 days before the treatment and fresh, irritated skin in the treatment area are contraindications.
How does Cooltech cryolipolysis differ from Onda Coolwaves?
Cryolipolysis freezes fat tissue with cold (-8°C) and works well on larger, stubborn fat deposits. Onda uses microwaves, which also smooth cellulite and firm the skin, with results visible sooner. We often use them together — the choice depends on your goal, which we determine during a consultation.
Is Cooltech cryolipolysis safe?
Yes. The controlled, stable temperature of -8°C acts selectively on fat cells without affecting neighbouring tissue, and the skin is protected by a special gel anti-freeze membrane. The effectiveness and safety of cryolipolysis are confirmed by numerous clinical studies, including large-scale analyses from 2025.
Can paradoxical adipose hyperplasia occur after cryolipolysis?
Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) is a rare side effect of cryolipolysis described in the literature, involving an increase (rather than a reduction) in the size of the treated area. It occurs very rarely; we inform patients about it honestly during the qualification process, in line with current medical knowledge.
How many areas can be treated in a single session?
During a single Cooltech cryolipolysis session, up to three different areas can be treated at once — for example, the abdomen and both sides of the waist. We decide on the areas together during the consultation, depending on where the fat is located.
Is cryolipolysis a weight-loss method?
No. Cryolipolysis reduces localised fat that is resistant to diet and exercise and helps contour the body, but it does not treat obesity or replace a healthy lifestyle. It works best for active people with localised excess fat.

What are the contraindications for Cooltech cryolipolysis?
The main contraindications are pregnancy and breastfeeding, uncontrolled diabetes, cancer, liver and kidney failure, Raynaud's disease, dermatitis and eczema in the treatment area, active viral infections (including herpes), fever, and tanning within 5 days before the treatment.
